New Review! The Cure by Tania Hagan, 3 Cranky Stars

The CureThe Cure by Tania Hagan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

*** 3 Cranky Stars ***

In a world where clones are the standard norm, Genesis Weatherby lives a charmed and sheltered life. With close family and friends, she's rarely questioned the world around her.

GOD, the organization that runs society, have helped to rid the world of disease through controlled procreation. Original births are banned for fear of reintroducing diseases back into the world. Anyone breaking the law are arrested and sent to camps. There are whispers of rebel groups and cases of people who have resisted the law, but the punishments are harsh.

When Nat Wilkinson enters Genesis' world, she begins to question the order of things. Forced to make a decision that alters the course of her life, Genesis learns what it is to be an outsider and how what we're told is not always the truth.

I liked the premise of this book, but the execution felt flat at times. Genesis had a Mary Sue quality about her and to be honest, there were some events that happened I didn't buy. Where some moments were rushed, others were labored.

Recommended for YA audiences.
