Initially the story leads one to believe that it is a boarding school romance reminiscent of The X-Men school.



Kat was identified as a "gifted" in Ireland and invited to attend the elite Midland school in the wilds of California. Here she meets the handsome football playing vision weaving, Levi.



However, there are twists and turns and Gabe! Evil is unexpected and crippling.



The story is gently written and moves on at a steady pace, it succeeds in my opinion as a first book of a series as not only an introduction to the characters but also as an enjoyable read.
